Google is still the king of search engines so the rule of thumb is that the higher the site's Google PageRank the more you will pay for a text link.

Once again, buying targeted links is the key. Before purchasing a link, make sure that the site that you are buying the link on covers the same topic or sells the same product as you. If your site offers mental health advice pick a site that also covers the area of mental health. If your site sells E-Books pick a site that sells E-Books too.

Don't buy text links on irrelevant websites because this will not only be a waste of money but it will also lead to an unsuccessful campaign. When trying to decide on what site to buy a link on, try to look on it as a potential website visitor would. Would a visitor to an E-Book website store click on a link to a mental health site? No.
